Journal of Intensive Medicine: A leading forum for breakthroughs and progress in critical care medicine
Dear Readers,
Critical care medicine is a discipline that was established in the early 1980s in China. Nearly 40 years later, its importance is widely recognized and it has been developed as a second-tier discipline with its own systems of clinical practice, teaching, and research. Critical care medicine has seen rapid progress in the last decade and has played an important role in emerging public health events, and is expected to further evolve in the post-pandemic era.
We are proud and honored to present the inaugural issue of the Journal of Intensive Medicine (JIM), a new publication of the Chinese Society of Critical Care Medicine (CSCCM), Chinese Medical Association. On behalf of the editorial team, we extend a warm welcome to the readership of JIM. We would also like to take this opportunity to thank the authors, editors, and reviewers who have contributed to the successful launch of this journal.
Significant advances have been made in critical care medicine in recent decades. While benefiting from these advances, our Chinese colleagues have made increasing contributions to the field, with more papers published in the top 4 critical care journals (Intensive Care Medicine, Critical Care Medicine, Critical Care, and Annals of Intensive Care) each year. Additionally, a number of randomized controlled trials related to sepsis, acute kidney injury, and acute respiratory distress syndrome are currently underway in China. JIM will include articles in all areas of critical care medicine, emergency medicine, and anesthesiology, and can serve as a platform for intensivists in China and abroad to present new discoveries, ideas, technologies, and data related to these disciplines.
As the Editor-in-chief, I proudly present Prof. Jean-Louis Teboul—who is currently the Editor-in-chief for the Annals of Intensive Care—as the Co-editor-in-chief of JIM. Both Prof. Teboul and myself have extensive experience in medical training, teaching, and practice, and will rely on our knowledge and skills as we guide JIM through the first issues and beyond. To ensure that the highest standards of quality and scientific integrity are met, we have invited distinguished international experts to serve on the editorial board of JIM and ensure a timely and constructive peer review process for all submitted manuscripts.
Submitted manuscripts can be clinical trials, original basic or translational research articles, case series and reports, reviews, editorials, clinical commentaries, and letters to the editor. We look forward to your contributions. We believe that JIM will be an important resource for the global medical and scientific communities, and are committed to working with readers, authors, and relevant experts around the world to make JIM a high-profile, high-quality, and high-impact academic journal in critical care medicine.
